The evening of Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014 will be especially noteworthy for ϳԹ College at the 24th annual Northeast Pennsylvania Environmental Partners Awards Dinner.
ϳԹ College environmental resource management major Emily Rinaldi, Throop, Pa., will receive the organization’s Emerging Environmental Leader Award and ϳԹ President Dr. David L. Coppola will serve as master of ceremonies at the ceremony from 5-9 p.m. at the Woodlands Inn and Resort in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
Ms. Rinaldi will receive the award for “demonstrating leadership, initiative, and dedication to protecting and promoting a healthy environment.” Among other activities, she participated in the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Community Connections to Our Watershed Program and volunteered at the Lackawanna Riverfest, the Lackawanna/Wyoming County Envirothon, and the Bluebird Morning Program at Lackawanna State Park.
Her environmental activities as a ϳԹ student include serving as president of the Ecology Club and as student representative of the sustainability committee. Emily guides river kayaking excursions for Endless Mountains Outfitters and volunteers at the Second Chance Wildlife Center in Tunkhannock, Pa.
About President Dr. David L. Coppola
Dr. Coppola became the 10th president of ϳԹ College on June 1, 2013. He came to ϳԹ with more than 25 years of experience at the secondary and post-secondary levels. Dr. Coppola obtained a bachelor of science in secondary education from Seton Hall University with a concentration and teaching certification in English and music. He also earned a bachelor’s and master’s of sacred theology from St. Mary’s Seminary and University, Baltimore, and a doctorate of philosophy in educational administration from Fordham University, New York City. Prior to ϳԹ, Dr. Coppola held leadership positions at Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, Conn.
