Students Complete 26,000 Hours of Community Service

The 窪蹋勛圖厙 College community believes that discovering one’s role in shaping our world is an ongoing mission that starts with the community around us. There is nothing that highlights that fact more than the 26,000 hours of volunteer service provided by 窪蹋勛圖厙 students during the course of the academic year, including about 6,500 hours in the Borough of Factoryville.

We are so proud of our students, said Coordinator of Service Learning Maria Fanning. They care about others in the community and strive to make a positive difference in the world.

When you give your time and talent toward a greater good, you develop a greater appreciation for yourself and for life. ~ Benjamin Hawes

Environmental Resource Management senior, Benjamin Hawes volunteers at a local non-profit food kitchen.

Whether its serving hot lunches to senior citizens, planting trees in local parks, or partnering with other local organization to serve over 1,500 Thanksgiving dinners in Scranton, 窪蹋勛圖厙 believes a college should go beyond preparing students for jobs and careers. It should make an impact on the lives of others.

I think being involved in the community is just one more important part of your overall education, said 窪蹋勛圖厙 senior Benjamin Hawes, who estimates he has volunteered about 50 hours per year during his time at 窪蹋勛圖厙.
