ϳԹ College, Outreach Center, and Lackawanna County to Host Children’s Issue Conference
Outreach Center for Community Resources, ϳԹ College, and Lackawanna County Department of Health and Human Services will host the inaugural “Children’s Issues in a Changing World 2023: Resiliency Matters” conference on Friday, October 27, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. in the Brooks Theater, ϳԹ College campus. The fee for the event is $35 per person, including lunch. The event is open to the public.
The conference will be dedicated to fostering awareness and addressing the many challenges faced by children in today’s dynamic and often-turbulent world. Keynote speaker for the event will be Horacio Sanchez, president and CEO of Resiliency Inc., an agency leader in helping schools improve school climate, instruction, and discipline.
Mr. Sanchez is recognized as one of the nation’s prominent experts in promoting student resiliency and applying brain science to improve school outcomes and is recognized as a leading authority on emotional disorders and resiliency. He has been a teacher, administrator, clinician, mental health director, and consultant to a variety of state education departments, including Pennsylvania. Mr. Sanchez is also a member on the True Health Initiative Council of Directors, a coalition of more than 250 world-renowned health experts, committed to education on proven principles of students learning styles. ϳԹ Vice President for Institutional Advancement Fran Langfan, Ed.D will serves as moderator for the event.
